History of Fashion

HIS 210

This course provides students with an introduction to the critical study of modern culture by specifically considering the significance of fashion. The course is designed to familiarize students with the history of fashion by considering how fashion and clothing informs historic understandings of gender, race, sexuality, space, and the body. Most of the examples we will consider are from the 19^th and 20^th centuries.
